MONITORING CAMPAIGN SPENDING AND VOTE-BUYING IN KAGOMA COUNTY BY-ELECTIONS APRIL-MAY 2017

This report highlights the major incidences of voter bribery and extent of campaign spending as monitored and reported by activists that were deployed for Kagoma County Member of Parliament by-election campaigns. It further presents the findings of the expansive Anti-Vote Buying and Selling campaign that targeted the behaviour, attitudes as well as actions of political candidates and voters in the by-election. At the heart of the anti-vote buying/selling campaign was the public no vote-buying pledge that was signed by all nominated candidates and monitored by activists on the ground.
